Berkeley 10k
Now one of the most popular 10km runs in the county, the Monday night Berkeley course offers runners the chance to attack their PB’s over Britain’s favourite race distance. The course does indeed past the famous castle however, there isn’t really an incline to slow your pace.
Two Tewkesbury runners sat-out of the previous day’s Tewkesbury half-marathon to keep the corks in their legs: Chris Duckworth had timed a personal best in his last 10km race over the Angels Haresfield course – a much tougher course by comparison. True to form, Chris set-off with a neat 6:16 minute first mile before crossing the finish line in 42:21 minutes.
Jon Mansfield sat-out the half-marathon because he didn’t feel he had the endurance for the distance so was more than happy to make his regular visit to the Dursley RC organised event. He finished in 38:46 mins.
Amanda Martin is enjoying her fitness currently and had the form to finish in 45:52 mins
and returning from his Newport Marathon exploits, Simon Meadows. Simon was severely hampered with cramping hips during the last 10k in Wales so it was great to see him running so soon again. Both Jon and Simon tussled with each other as they did in the same race 12 months ago, only this time the order was reversed and they both ran a minute slower – even though the same effort was given. Simon finished in 39:01 minutes.
