Frampton 10K

Set on the backdrop of the stunning village green of Frampton-On-Severn, 7 runners from Tewkesbury Running Club toed the line in this competitive 460 runner race.

Having won last year’s version, Shona Crombie-Hicks started as favourite for the ladies race, but she faced good competition from the local city athletics clubs. However, with a fast 1st mile, Shona stamped her authority on her rivals and lead all the way to record yet another 10K success this summer, with a comfortable 30 second cushion on the 2nd Lady.

Simon Meadows is a regular at Frampton, having recorded 2 of his fastest 10K races, aided by the promise of free bottle of cider. This year was not to be one of Simon’s fastest with Saturday’s Cotswold Way Relay still in his legs, but still recorded an enviable time of 39mins 24 secs.

Chris Duckworth has till been struggling with a groin problem of recent and posted up a respectable time of 45mins 4secs with all things considered.

Carley Merriman approached the race with intrigue having never run the course before but needn’t of worried. Even with sore calves and tight hip flexor’s not fully recovered from Saturday’s baking hot Cotswold Way Relay, Carley strode away around the lanes of Fretherne and Overton to record a time of 47mins 49secs ….. a time only 10 seconds within her PB !

Tewkesbury welcomed back Sharon Lockley after her injury sustained at Fairford 10K last month. With her knee still being well looked after in strapping, Sharon should be happy with her time of 52mins 11secs, only a minute off her peak times from last year.

Linzi Dyer has been a regular racer since joining Tewkesbury in the summer and has shown a real taste for 10K racing these past months. With some excellent consistent training, Linzi was chomping at the bit for the race to start and attacked the Frampton 10K with relish. Coming into the finish Linzi, knew she was having a good run and with the finishing clock in sight, she sprinted to the finish to record 54mins 5secs …. a very pleasing PB, knocking the best part of a minute off her previous best.

Vicky Earls completed the successful Ladies team from Tewkesbury, coming in at 63mins 11secs, recording a very similar time to last year.
