Pendock Chicken Races
The Pendock 10k - the second race in the club 'on-road' series but as updates on the course were provided by race Director Nigel Tillott, the runners first decision was road shoes or off-road shoes? Definitely not a day to chase a PB for the 15 club runners.
A race described as "Slippy", "terrifying" and "a mud bath" however, also "good fun" with smiles all round at the end. Not forgetting the need to navigate around two dinosaurs loose on the course. Some great running and award winners with Carley 3rd lady overall and Tony MV/60 both age category winners.
First home for the club just outside the top 10 in 11th place and second in his category was Jon Mansfield - 43.03 minutes MV50/ 2. Following Jon were:
- Will Holyoak - 44.14, MU18 / 3
- Adam Twine - 44.28,
- Tony Foy - 45.30 MV60 1st
Next to finish and first lady home for the club, 3rd lady overall and SL/1 was Carley Merriman in 48.24. Followed by:
- Andrew Gillett - 49.07
- Jane Sauer - 52.54, LV45/2
- Sue Baldwin - 53.14, LV55/3
- Sarah Dennis - 57.01
- Jacqueline Skipper - 1.05.38
- Julie McLean - 1.05.39
- Tonia Whitebeam (helping a work colleague around) 1.19.39
- Philip Howells - 1.28.40
Club runners also raced the 5k, finishing in 7th overall was Chris Nicholls - 21.10, MV40/2 and James Gribble - 22.50
At the end - not sure which shoes were better it was just a challenge to stay on two feet!
Well done runners, helpers, supporters, and Race Director Nigel.
Big thanks to Sarah Dennis for the race report.
