Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
TRC member Alan sets out to raise money for the British Red Cross, working in Ukraine.
Alan writes:
"When I entered the Fission 20 mile road-race, it was not my intention to raise funds for charity. However, as the horrific events in Ukraine have been unfolding, it would seem churlish of me not to use my expended energies to support the people of Ukraine at their time of greatest need.
On this occasion, rather than running in my usual club colours, I shall be wearing the blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian flag. All funds raised will go towards the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, of which the British Red Cross is a leading charity. Thank you all so much for any donations you can make."
Having successfully finishing the 20 mile race, Alan was pleased to update the club on his progress:
"Absolutely delighted to report that I completed today's Fission 20 mile race, in a time of 2:22:30, winning the MV60 age group, finishing 19th overall and setting a new PB.
I'm also very pleased to report that the Ukraine donations presently stand at £220, for which I am extremely grateful. Many thanks to everyone who has donated.
My Just Giving page will remain open, for anyone who still wishes to donate. Thanks to you all."
Today, the total raised stands at a fantastic £400, fantastic work Alan! If you still wish to make a donation, please head over to Alan's page.
